HSE Guidance

HSE Guidance

What has changed?

From the 1st of October 2013, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) no longer regulated first aid training providers, and employers are now free to choose their preferred first aid training company.

What has not changed?

The law that employers should provide adequate and appropriate equipment and personnel to provide assistance to injured or ill colleagues, and provide trained first aiders based on their own needs assessment has not changed. The HSE still ensures a standard of first aid training for the workplace is maintained and the recognised courses will remain the same: the 1 day Emergency First Aid at Work, the 3 day First Aid at Work, the 2 day Re-Qualification First Aid at Work and the Annual Refresher.

What does this mean for you?

The HSE recommends that when selecting a Training Organisation (various options available), employers should carry out due diligence to ensure that the organisation selected is suitable. The HSE have provided guidance for employers and state:

“The guidance however does not PROMOTE, RECOMMEND or SUPPORT any particular option. It does not comment on the quality of individual training courses or the service provided, nor does it provide an assessment of the quality assurance systems of any provider or class of provider”.

How can we help?

It is business as usual for Allied Medical Solutions Limited. You can be reassured that we meet the required standards as set out in the HSE information sheet - ‘Selecting a first aid training provider’.

  • Our trainers and assessors are suitably qualified and experienced
  • Trainers and training standards are regularly monitored by internal and external sources
  • Training is taught in line with current practice and the course content meets HSE guidance
  • We have a quality assurance and complaints procedure
  • All our courses are evaluated by each and every delegate
  • We have all necessary insurances for training and event cover

We can offer Ofqual Regulated Qualifications (RQF) and are a member of Qualifications Network, so you are in safe hands! Because we are independent, if you choose us as your training provider you can have any training option you wish.

We will continually help with your first aid needs by following the HSE guidelines.

Our reputation is important to us, so if we're providing quotations, training or event medical cover our staff will always be polite, courteous and always try and meet your expectations. We focus on being professional, respecting patient dignity, being open and honest about what we can do for you, but most importantly caring for all our patients and customers.
